WE Are the Change We've Been Waiting For (Part 2): Embodying the Change
A sacred nudge to stop waiting and start becoming
Narrated by author
This title is a mashup between my favorite quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world” and one of my favorite Hopi reminders below, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”
Recently, I recorded this audio ✨musing✨ as a collaborative piece with
This piece is a heart offering, not a whole manual. I know that life is messy, complex, and often painful and that no single essay can possibly capture the full scope of anyone’s lived experience.
What follows is a more philosophical piece written from the spirit of deep reflection and intention. It’s not meant to bypass hardship, ignore structural realities, or offer tidy solutions for the spectrum of the human condition.
It is offered as a 30,000 foot view of what’s possible when we each take responsibility for the energy that we’re putting out into the world. It’s meant to serve as a catalyst for change that we actually have control over.
If you find yourself reacting strongly ~ whether with resonance or resistance ~ I invite you to pause and sit with it. Take what speaks to you and leave the rest. I write not to tell you what’s true, but to explore what might be.
And I honor that your truth may live somewhere else entirely.
~Alecia
Times are tough.
It’s difficult to get steady enough to stabilize ourselves in the midst of these rapidly shifting sands. There’s so much chaos, friction, and division broiling in the outer realms which makes it even more difficult to get grounded and peaceful in the inner realms.
There are a myriad of stories flying this way and that. Opinions are shared freely and quickly from mouths ~ and through fingertips ~ that are often judgmental, negative, and divisive in nature birthed through emotional triggers.
It’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not in the midst of this tempest of spin which can make it difficult to separate the signal from the noise.
This external static can easily drown out the whispers of our inner guidance if we’re not rooted in something deeper that’s more sustainable. That’s why the real revolution begins inside which can anchor us into a more stable centerpoint so we can sense our own individual signal to stand more solidly in personal sovereignty.
This isn’t to help us escape the world, but to engage it differently…from the inside out.
We’re called to be Monks on Main Street, as my soulful, looping musician brother-friend sings about in the video below.
So, what’s a change agent - a wayshower - to do and how are we to navigate?
First, we must remember who we are, not as a mantra or a meme, but as a living embodiment of our beliefs and our convictions.
Once we know that, we can then act in alignment with that calling and that remembrance…
…even when it’s inconvenient
…even when we feel like hiding
…even when others don’t get it
Most especially then.
Many of us have learned about the difference between 3D
←the real world out there→
and 5D
→the thought/be-ing internal world←.
3D is the world of structure, form, and identity. It’s how we learn and survive. It’s where traditions and manufactured social rules reside.
5D is the higher awareness that transcends and includes while allowing us to live with more connection, intuition, and love.
3D is like seeing life through the lens of separation - 5D is seeing it through the lens of wholeness.
As conscious beings, we are called to make higher choices to make a difference…right here, right now.
There’s no time left for later. That ship sailed long ago.
Who each one of us shows up to be right now choice by choice, word by word, post by post, and reply by reply will speak of the path that we’ve chosen to walk in alignment with.
Whether we want them to or not, they speak for us…loudly.
We’re each called to BE and DO in our own unique way and it is not for anyone else to tell us otherwise. These days, it’s so important that we follow our hearts and our inner guidance as to how we, as unique individuals, are meant to shine as a beacon of hope, light, and balance in a world that feels so heavy and dark that’s drowning in the drama of screen time and conflicting talking heads .
We are to act as the lighthouse shining as a beacon through the fog of uncertainty that offers another way.
Comparison is the thief of joy
Don’t get transfixed by the outer shell of who they are - those prolific writers with 10,000 subscribers, influencers, and “successful people”, thereby having our joy stolen by our comparison to them.
Instead appreciate the energetic shell of who they are and what they do as their own unique energy signal that highlights their particular lightwork on the planet.
It’s so important to remember that there’s no single blueprint for awakening.
Some of us came to rattle the cages.
Others of us came to whisper through the bars.
Some to do both.
ALL are valid.
ALL are necessary to awaken and unite the sum of our collective human parts.
Our shared evolution depends on the full spectrum of these many sacred expressions.
Some of us are meant to be the provocateurs to agitate and awaken the collective to a conscious revolution of the inner realms.
Others are sensitive empaths who aren’t meant to take on that particular job because their nervous systems weren’t designed for it.
Yet others came to simply embody unconditional love that oozes out of their pores so that others may be touched by and bathed in the warmth of that experience that so many have never experienced.
Still others are called to create conscious media which stimulates the mind and spirit through images, words, and music that bypass the mind by moving energy through the more subconscious channels below and behind the scenes.
Some are of the highest of spiritual service allowing us to openly bear witness to their personal suffering which shifts something inside of us as we sit in contemplation with compassion and empathy towards their plights in contrast to ours.
Each of these requires a different set of skills and abilities to accomplish the task. It’s essential that we remember this because, as things clamp down more, it is of the utmost importance to be able to detach from the fear so that we don’t get caught up in the drama.
It’s important for us to honor those of our tribe that believe the same things, yet are be-ing what they’re called to be which may look different than our calling. I’ve seen far too much criticism amongst tribe mates that judge their own for not doing it the way another feels called to which dilutes and disrupts the potency of our collective purpose.
Don’t should on others…nor yourself
Even if we think we know what others should be doing, none of us gets to decide or determine the right/wrong, good/bad of what others are doing and how they’re doing it.
If we find ourselves doing so, it’s important to notice, make a conscious notation that’s not who we want to be, point ourselves in another direction, and resist the temptation to get in someone else’s lane trying to tell them what to do and how to do it.
They know who they are, where they’re going, and how they’re supposed to get there even if they look lost. And if they are lost, that’s part of their path which will teach them new things as they make their way back home.
And if we witness someone who doesn’t seem to be walking in integrity or whose actions feel out of alignment with the values we hold dear, we have two paths before us.
We can choose to gently mirror what we’re seeing, not to shame or control, but to offer them a moment of reflection they may not have had. Or we can quietly take note for ourselves, allowing their behavior to clarify our own values and recommit to who we want to be.
Both responses can be sacred. Both can hold space without casting judgment. What matters most is that we stay anchored in compassion, discernment, and inner steadiness because that’s where real change begins…within us.
MYOB - Mind Your Own Business
It’s not our job to try to reroute someone else’s GPS of the soul.
There’s divine choreography residing in all of us. If we try to reassign someone else’s role, we just might be missing our own directional cues.
Let’s try to keep our eyes on our own path to ensure we’re heading in the right direction. Our eyes are best cast upward and inward for our own sense of guidance and direction.
We are energetic revolutionaries - each of us as cooks, lawyers, mechanics, RN’s, yoga teachers, housewives, roofers, and dog trainers. ALL of us have important things to do to shift the energy in positive ways while we’re here.
We are people doing the inner work to hold a steady vibration as a counterbalance to all the destabilizing uncertainty. We are the ones who create change by being a living embodiment of the change we wish to see in the world.
We are energetic architects of the subtle, unseen, and often under-appreciated realms. We’re called to transmute density with conscious presence and awareness, instead of dramatic performance.
We stir up the ripples of change not just with what we do and say, but even more, with how we BE.
Our “activism” may not look loud and it may be so gently invisible as to be imperceptible to those that don’t have the keenest of sight, but it reverberates and echoes strongly throughout the field. We form and ripple energy that can completely reshape timelines and we shouldn’t be shy about it.
We fly under the radar working our magic with intention and attention.
Our strength doesn’t come from external fanfare or force. It comes from alignment, precision, and the unseen threads of frequency we weave beneath the surface of the senses.
We don’t get distracted by the noise and the chaos because our internal signal of intention is loud and clear. It is the beacon that guides us. That signal is our sacred compass - our true north - refined through practice, prayer, stillness, and truth. It is nurtured and cultivated by self-reflection and personal accountability.
We are not meant to roll around in the trenches of the 3D world wearing what the dysfunctional world tosses in our direction as distractions. Our role is not to fight fire with fire, but to become the cool, clarifying waters that remind others there is another, better, way that causes less suffering.
We are called to be changemakers - through our actions - of another way that vibrates at a higher frequency than the world that is going through its own awkward and messy evolution and ascension.
By anchoring this frequency through our words and our presence, we serve as living invitations into a new paradigm of being with a kind word, a compassionate exchange making one conscious choice at a time.
This is sacred work with sacred timing. If you’re reading this, you already know that you didn’t come here to fit in because many of you are the black sheep. You came here to shift the frequency of whole damn thing - quietly, boldly, and in your own divine way.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for
The Hopi Elders have said:
You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour.
And there are things to be considered…
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for your leader.
Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.
Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.
And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word ’struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
~Hopi Elders' Prophecy, June 8, 2000
Now that we know that WE are the change we’ve been waiting for.
No more waiting.
The time is NOW.
Because there’s a quiet revolution happening, not out in the streets, but in our hearts.
More and more of us are realizing that real change doesn’t begin with someone else’s apology, someone else’s leadership, or someone else’s awakening.
It begins with the mirror.
It begins with personal awareness and personal accountability.
It begins the moment we stop outsourcing our power to others and start remembering who we really are.
We’re not perfect.
We’re not always ready.
But we’re deeply, deeply capable.
We’re capable of softening when it’s easier to snap.
We’re capable of listening when it’s tempting to perform.
We’re capable of shifting old patterns…even when no one else around us has our backs.
None of this has to be grand. It doesn’t have to be loud or bold. It just has to be real.
Because the truth is that we’ve been waiting for something that’s been waiting on us all along.
Time to take a baby step 👣
What’s one small act - a decision today - that doesn’t ask you to do anything other than being in this space in this moment - which might bring your behavior closer to your beliefs?
You don’t need to get it right.
You just need to begin.
This is the sacred work of becoming.
This is the pulse of the change we’re here to midwife into being.
And it starts…with you.
Be your own doula.
So, what does “better” look like from where you’re standing?
I write to remember, connect, shift, and sometimes unravel so we can rebuild something more whole…together.

Loved this...so many pearls. Especially the reminder that we cannot be lightworkers if we don't work with shadow... Thank you!
