Thank you for taking the time to say so. I appreciate that very much.
Yeah, it's not the easiest to do under the circumstances but so very necessary to move ourselves out of these stuck places so things can get better.
Unfortunately, we have absolutely NO control over others but we do ourselves...hopefully. My goal is to try to walk my talk as much as possible so I can be peaceful, as well as a potential example for others on how it might be done.
The universe has been leading me to the right substacks lately as my mind is shifting towards the “black sheep” mindset of the Substack you shared. I found them 2 weeks ago, and now here I am.
I’ve been intently watching the political landscape and finding where I fit in without having to mold who I am. Which is what belonging is.
When I was younger I wanted to be as progressive as possible because I genuinely care about people and with a young moldable mind I believed certain things that I no longer believe at 26 years old.
I never liked boxes, so why have I placed myself in one for so long? I care about others, but not in the way far left spaces do. Not in this authoritative way where, as you said, you must believe exactly as the group does or you’re not actually apart of the group.
I’ve been reactionary, writing aggressively about my fatigue with the landscape. I may have been younger, but I don’t remember politics ever looking like a reality tv show on television. I never saw politicians blatantly disrespecting each other and going to questionable lengths to rally the American people.
I’ve seen the double standards towards republicans and democrats and some have chose a childish approach to these double standards. The left/democrats are not caring anymore about accuracy at times because the right/republicans have not been caring and have won. It’s a shame that anti-intellectualism is a thing.
The people who base their views on facts and reasoning are tired, and those ones usually fall in the “centrist” category and are mistreated by both parties when most of us have the same agenda.
In some instances I don’t understand how people can easily cut out family over politics, but in other instances, I can.
Some of these family members and friends have hateful speech that a lot can’t stand for or reason with. I notice these people who cut their family members off have at least tried to come to a common ground, but just can’t. Some people really are brainwashed and unreasonable.
I got covertly scolded earlier this week on BlueSky:
Someone had a “political hot take” that those on the left should welcome trump supporters who get tired of him. Someone I follow quoted it and said “absolutely not.”
I tried to bring a different perspective, as I know people who voted for him that weren’t apart of a cult. They didn’t attend rallies, and they don’t have any stickers or flags plastered with Trump’s face or name. I bring these type of people up, people that were lied to, misinformed.
I noted that most people are not online like you and I, that see the misinformation/disinformation, that are about finding the truth, even if it’s half the truth.
People are spending more time working and making sure their bills are paid over taking the time to scroll the internet and fact check things on Google. People didn’t even know Joe left the race on Election Day.
This wasn’t enough for my mutual, they said there was no excuse for people to be misinformed anymore. We’re all adults.
It made me upset because just as we can easily be led astray, the other side can be too. Why do we think of ourselves as impenetrable because we feel we are on the right side of history? And we very well are, just according to facts, but to willingly blind yourself to the bigger picture is a detriment to us all.
I enjoyed reading this, I won’t take up much more of your comment section, but I’m enjoying this arc of mine and wondering where it’ll lead me.
I'm grateful to have stumbled across your substack. I'm trying to live in the space you're describing.
Thank you for taking the time to say so. I appreciate that very much.

So happy you've joined me. 🙂
The inside job is the most important job.
Great article!
Thank you so much.
That's one of my favorite phrases. It's a self-empowering thing to know because it cuts away the dross and leaves us to ourselves.
